The XRD spectra acquired from the material obtained after SHS synthesis showed the presence of two main Ti 2 AlC and Ti 3 AlC 2 phases as well as minor amounts of TiCx . Quantitative Rietveld analysis of the manufactured preforms revealed the following contents of constituents: Ti 2 AlC – 66.54%, Ti 3 AlC 2 – 30.32%, TiC – 3.14%.
